About
Herbaceous Living began with a simple idea: that people and herbs belong together. Not as a trend or a supplement aisle, but as an ordinary daily relationship — something you grow on a windowsill, drop into a pot, hang up to dry, and reach for when you need it.
This site is a working notebook. It gathers plant profiles, recipes, and writing about the wider business of living well: energy, food, and the connection between people and the natural world. Some of it is practical — how to cure olives, how to dry a harvest so it doesn’t go mouldy. Some of it is reflective. Both belong here.
Why herbs
Herbs are the most forgiving way back into the natural world. They grow in small spaces and poor soil. They ask very little. And they carry thousands of years of accumulated human knowledge in them — knowledge that was ordinary and shared long before it was specialist.
Learning a handful of plants properly changes how you shop, how you cook, and how you notice the seasons. That is the whole invitation.
How to use this site
- Herbs — profiles of individual plants, their traditional uses, cautions and character.
- Recipes — things to actually make, using what is in season.
- Wellbeing — the wider picture: energy, choice, and living in step with the natural world.
Start with one plant
Pick a herb you already have in the kitchen and learn it properly. That is usually enough to change everything else.
